Will God pull the plug on America?

In a late-night speech, Senator Lindsey Graham spoke words that every American and every Christian should take to heart:

“If America pulls the plug on Israel, God will pull the plug on us.”

Do we believe him? Or have we grown so numb to Israel’s suffering — and to the world’s oldest hatred — that we think America can turn her back on God’s covenant people without consequence?

Senator Graham’s Remarks

“But tonight, it's late at night. Israel is in a fight for their lives. Our friends in Israel are surrounded by people who would kill them all if they could. I am tired of the word genocide. Let me tell you about genocide. If Israel wanted to commit genocide, they could. They have the capability to do that. They choose not to. Hamas, they would commit genocide in 30 seconds. They just can't. And that's the big difference, folks.

To people in my party, I'm tired of this crap. Israel is our friend. They're the most reliable friend we have in the Middle East. They're democracy surrounded by people who would cut their throats if they could. This is not a hard choice if you're an American. It's not a hard choice if you're a Christian. A word of warning. If America pulls the plug on Israel, God will pull the plug on us. And we're not going to let that happen.

So, I just want to end with this thought that President Trump has stood with Israel at the most difficult time since its founding. October the 7th was an effort to destroy the state of Israel, the largest loss of Jewish life since the Holocaust. And here we are almost 2 years later, and Israel's the bad guy. That's ridiculous. Israel is not the bad guy. They're the good guy. The bad guys are the radical Islamist who would kill everybody in this room if they could. So, I haven't lost my vision of right and wrong. When it comes to foreign policy, President Trump has stood up for all the right things and he stood up against wrong things just like Reagan.”

The World’s Oldest Hatred

Antisemitism is not new. From Pharaoh’s decree to kill Hebrew babies, to Haman’s plot in Esther’s day, to the Roman destruction of Jerusalem, to the Crusades, pogroms, the Holocaust, and now Hamas — the cry to annihilate the Jewish people has never ceased.

And today? We hear it again in the streets of Tehran and in protests on Western campuses: “Death to Israel! Death to America!” Do we understand what this means? The hatred of the Jewish people is not separate from the hatred of America. To Israel’s enemies, we are one and the same.

The Miracle of Israel and the Test for America

In 1948, when Israel declared independence, President Harry Truman — against the advice of nearly everyone around him — became the first world leader to recognize the reborn state. “I had faith in Israel before it was established,” he later said, “and I have faith in it now.”

Truman understood the truth of Genesis 12:3: “I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse.” America has prospered not because of her strength alone, but because she chose to bless Israel.

And let us not forget Haym Salomon — the Jewish immigrant who financed George Washington’s army when the Revolution nearly collapsed. Without Salomon’s sacrifice, America might not even exist. From the very beginning, Jews and Christians stood together in the cause of liberty.

“Death to Israel, Death to America” — The Same Hatred

The enemies of Israel don’t stop at her borders. From Tehran to terror tunnels, the chant is always the same: “Death to Israel! Death to America!” They know the destinies of our two nations are linked.

Why? Because both Israel and America stand as roadblocks to tyranny. Israel — the covenant people of God, reborn in their ancient homeland. America — a nation founded on biblical values, where freedom of worship and conscience took root. Together, we embody the Judeo-Christian foundations that the enemies of God despise. And yet, as Israel bleeds, groups like Hamas — born out of the Muslim Brotherhood — continue their plan to “destroy the West from within.” It is written in their own documents. Their strategy is not only terror on the battlefield but subversion in our culture, universities, and government.

So let us ask ourselves: Are we blind to the danger? Will America be complicit in the lies, calling Israel the aggressor while terrorists livestream their atrocities? Will we reward Hamas with recognition while hostages starve in their tunnels?

A Call to Modern-Day Esthers

This is not a hard choice, as Senator Graham reminded us. Not for Americans. Not for Christians. But silence is a choice — and it is the wrong one.

If America pulls the plug on Israel, will God pull the plug on America? Scripture warns us He will. History proves He will. The question is — will we be the Esthers of our generation, standing when it matters most?

Today’s Prayer:
Lord, open the eyes of America. Strengthen our leaders to stand with Israel in truth and courage. Protect the Jewish people from the world’s oldest hatred. And raise up Modern-Day Esthers to speak boldly, pray faithfully, and refuse to be silent — until evil is defeated. Amen.
