When news broke that the FBI arrested a Hamas operative living quietly in Louisiana, Americans were stunned.
According to the U.S. Department of Justice, Mahmoud Amin Ya’qub Al-Muhtadi, a Gazan native, entered the United States in 2024 using a fraudulently obtained visa. Federal authorities allege he was an operative in a paramilitary group that took part in Hamas’s October 7, 2023, terrorist attack on Israel — the deadliest day for Jewish people since the Holocaust.
House Speaker Mike Johnson called the arrest “alarming” and warned that it exposes deep failures in U.S. immigration and border policy.
“After hiding out in the United States, this monster has been found and charged with participating in the atrocities of October 7,” said Attorney General Pamela Bondi. “The single deadliest day for Jewish people since the Holocaust.”
Evil Doesn’t Respect Borders
This revelation isn’t just about one man. It’s a reminder that evil doesn’t stop at national boundaries. The violence that tore through Israel on October 7 did not end at Gaza’s fence. Its ideology seeks to reach every corner of the world.
Speaker Johnson said what many Americans now fear:
“We know that terrorists got across the border, and I don’t think anybody on planet Earth can discern exactly how many. We’ll be living with the threat and the ramifications of that open border probably for the rest of our lives.”
Israel’s Fight Is Ours Too
As Israel continues its mission to eliminate Hamas and bring home the last hostages, this arrest reminds us that Israel’s battle is not only a regional issue. It is part of a global struggle between truth and deception, good and evil, freedom and terror.
“Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: May those who love you be secure.” — Psalm 122:6
The same spiritual blindness that fuels hatred against Israel also threatens nations that abandon moral clarity and border integrity. As believers, we are called to stand alert, discerning, and unwavering in both prayer and principle.
Faith Over Fear
While political blame will continue to dominate headlines, people of faith can respond differently. We can pray for protection, for justice, and for renewed wisdom among leaders in both Israel and the United States.
We can also stand boldly against antisemitism and remind our neighbors that Israel’s security is the world’s security. What happened on October 7 began in Israel but reverberated across the globe — and now, even here at home.
Today’s Prayer
Heavenly Father, protect our nation and the nation of Israel from those who plot in darkness. Give our leaders courage to uphold truth and justice. May we never grow complacent about evil, and may we remain steadfast in blessing Israel as Your Word commands. In Jesus’ name, amen.
