When Evil Falls… What Comes Next?

Modern-day Esthers, rise up. Fast. Pray through this war. Pray for Israel’s protection, for the defeat of evil, and for a peace that does not leave a vacuum for something even darker to enter.

Jesus warned that when a house is swept clean but left empty, seven more wicked spirits can return. That warning is not only personal. It can unfold in nations and regions too.

“When an impure spirit comes out of a person… it goes and takes seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and live there. And the final condition of that person is worse than the first.” Luke 11:24–26

Scripture shows this pattern plainly. After Gideon’s victory over Midian, Israel had rest from one enemy, but the people did not remain faithful to the Lord. Soon Abimelech rose up from within, bringing bloodshed and destruction to his own people.

“Then Abimelek son of Jerub-Baal went to his mother’s brothers in Shechem… and they gave him seventy shekels of silver… and he used it to hire reckless scoundrels, who became his followers.” Judges 9:1–4

History has shown the same pattern. In 1979, Iran’s monarchy fell, but what followed was not freedom. It was a harsher Islamic regime. In Iraq, the 2011 U.S. withdrawal left a vacuum that ISIS rushed in to fill. More recently, the devastating withdrawal from Afghanistan opened the door for the Taliban’s sweeping return.

Now the US and Israel are at war with Iran, and the stakes are not small.

President Trump said there will be no deal short of “unconditional surrender.” Senator John Kennedy declared, “the world is safer today because of what he has done.” And we pray that is so. But Jesus’ warning still stands. It is not enough for one evil to fall if the aftermath is left spiritually empty.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has spoken directly to the Iranian people, saying Israel’s actions are meant to “create the conditions for the brave Iranian people to take their destiny into their own hands.” He reminded them, “You are not our enemies,” and urged them to “cast off the yoke of this murderous regime.”

This is why we must pray with discernment, not sentiment.

Pray that this war does not end with a wounded serpent birthing seven more. Pray that terror is broken at the root. Pray that Israel is defended, that innocent lives are spared, and that whatever rises after this war is not another throne of darkness.

“For the Lord will go before you, the God of Israel will be your rear guard.” Isaiah 52:12

Today’s Prayer

Lord of Hosts,

Defend Israel in this hour of war. Break the power of violent rulers, terror networks, and every scheme raised against Your covenant land. Do not let one evil fall only to make room for another.

Fill the aftermath with truth, restraint, justice, and the fear of God. Strengthen Israel’s leaders. Protect her people. And let peace come on firmer ground than before.

In Jesus’ name, amen.
