True Hero: How an Israeli-Druze Saved Lives During the Amsterdam Pogrom

As violence escalated on the streets of Amsterdam following a soccer game between Maccabi Tel Aviv and AFC Ajax, one man, Melhem Asad, stood out as a beacon of bravery. An Israeli-Druze fan from the town of Kisra-Sumei in Israel’s Upper Galilee, Melhem had come to support his team, but he left as a true hero—risking his life to save fellow Israelis from the brutality of mob attacks.

In an interview with Israeli media, Melhem recounted the chilling details of that night. "Before the game, we were at Dam Square, and there was good security," he shared. "But after the game ended, we left the stadium to return to the hotel, and there was no security—nothing. We felt completely exposed." He described how, without police protection, they became easy targets for groups intent on causing harm.

What Melhem did next exemplifies courage and quick thinking. Hearing groups nearby speaking in Arabic about their plans to attack Israeli fans, he acted fast. “I heard people...

Investing in Israel: A Beacon of Blessing and Innovation

In times of economic uncertainty and shifting global dynamics, the world often looks to Israel—a land that, from ancient days to modern times, has been a wellspring of innovation, resilience, and hope. At Christian Women For Israel, we see Israel not only as a remarkable nation but also as a blessing for all people, as God promised to Abraham, “Through your offspring all nations on earth will be blessed” (Genesis 22:18). This profound statement reflects the reality we witness today: Israel’s advancements in technology, healthcare, and security reach far beyond its borders, touching and enhancing lives worldwide.

With renewed optimism in the market following the re-election of President Trump, investment opportunities in Israeli tech are booming. Just as God spoke blessings over Abraham and his descendants, we see these blessings fulfilled through the achievements of Israeli startups and industries that are making a real difference. Firms like OurCrowd are at...

400 Days: What Baby Kfir and Other Hostages Have Missed

On October 7, 2023, as Israel faced a devastating attack from Hamas, baby Kfir Bibas, his 4-year-old brother Ariel, and their parents, Shiri and Yarden, were abducted from their home on the Nir Oz kibbutz. At just 9 months old, Kfir became the youngest hostage in captivity, separated from his family, community, and the familiar comforts of his first home. Now, over 400 days later, we reflect on the milestones Kfir has missed and pray fervently for his safe return.

A Childhood Denied

Kfir's life in captivity has robbed him of the everyday joys and discoveries that make up a child's early years. He has missed first steps, first words, and the support and warmth of his extended family, who continue to hold out hope and rally support for his release. For Kfir, Ariel, and countless others held captive, the passage of time means lost moments that can never be fully recovered.

Around what should have been a joyful milestone—Kfir’s first birthday—hundreds gathered in Tel...

From Darkness to Light: Embracing Christ in Troubling Times

In a world filled with challenges—from rising global tensions and violent attacks on Israel’s people to economic uncertainties and natural disasters—we can easily feel like we’re groping in the dark. Darkness, as Scripture shows, is often a symbol of sin, ignorance, and separation from God. But as followers of Christ, we’re called to turn to Him, the ultimate Light, as our refuge and guide.

Jesus proclaimed in John 8:12, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life.” This light is more than illumination; it’s spiritual truth and eternal hope. When we choose to walk with Him, we find a path through the darkness—no matter how bleak the world may seem.

Scripture reminds us that darkness represents more than a lack of physical light; it’s often a symbol of sin and separation from God. In John 3:19, we’re told, “This is the verdict: Light has come into...

Trusting God Sovereignty in Times of Uncertainty and Fear

As we look back across recent events—a hard-fought election season stirring emotions nationwide, violent antisemitic attacks shocking the Jewish community, and ever-evolving global tensions—one thing becomes abundantly clear: life can shift in a heartbeat. From one headline to the next, we are reminded of the instability in the world and the ever-pressing need for courage, faith, and unwavering prayer.

At Christian Women For Israel, we stand firm in the knowledge that God is sovereign over every circumstance, every fear, and every hope. Yet, it’s not always easy to rest in that truth. When news reports seem only to highlight tragedy or division, it can be tempting to turn to our own resources for control and understanding. But we, as modern-day Esthers, are called to take a different approach.

Reflecting on the turmoil of Kristallnacht 86 years ago, the violent "Night of Broken Glass" that foreshadowed unimaginable suffering, we remember the courageous few who,...

Remembering Kristallnacht: A Call to Stand with Israel and God's People, 86 Years Later

As we mark 86 years since Kristallnacht, the “Night of Broken Glass,” a tragic night when the world witnessed a brutal wave of violence and hatred against the Jewish people. On November 9–10, 1938, Nazi Germany launched an organized assault on Jewish homes, synagogues, schools, and businesses. Windows were shattered, buildings were set ablaze, and lives were forever changed. Kristallnacht would tragically pave the way for the Holocaust, resulting in the loss of six million Jewish lives.

For Christian Women For Israel, Kristallnacht serves as a solemn reminder of the devastating consequences of hatred left unchecked and the responsibility of all believers to stand against evil. In commemorating this day, we also honor the courageous Christians who risked everything to protect Jewish lives during one of history’s darkest hours.

The Night of Broken Glass

During those harrowing two days, nearly 1,000 synagogues were destroyed, over 7,000 Jewish-owned businesses...

Pogrom in Amsterdam

As heartbreaking news emerges from Amsterdam, where Israeli soccer fans have been brutally attacked, the urgent call to stand with Israel and its people becomes impossible to ignore. In what Amsterdam Mayor Femke Halsema describes as a “very dark moment,” gangs have targeted and ambushed fans of Maccabi Tel Aviv, a soccer team with a strong connection to Israel. The attacks left ten Israelis injured, with an additional ten unaccounted for, as many more remain trapped in hotels under constant threat. The situation has escalated to the point where the Israeli government has called on the IDF to ensure their safety in Amsterdam, an action that speaks to the gravity of this violent surge.

This is not an isolated incident but a disturbing echo of history, recalling the violence of Kristallnacht—the infamous “Night of Broken Glass” on November 9, 1938. In that brutal night of pogroms, Jewish communities across Nazi Germany faced mob violence as shops, homes,...

Renewed Hope for Israel: Trump’s Victory, the Abraham Accords, and Strengthening Against Iran’s Threats

With Donald Trump set to return to the White House, Israel and its allies are filled with anticipation and hope. As Christian Women For Israel, we recognize this pivotal moment as a powerful affirmation of support for peace and stability in the Middle East.

During Trump’s first term, he launched the Abraham Accords, creating historic agreements that brought Israel into peaceful relations with several Arab nations. The Accords were groundbreaking, providing a new vision of cooperation between Israel and its Arab neighbors, from the UAE to Morocco. These partnerships have advanced economic growth and stability, offering a path toward peace even in a region marked by conflict. Now, there’s great hope that this work will continue to expand, fostering deeper connections with other nations in the Arab world and strengthening Israel’s security and prosperity.
