“He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the LORD require of you But to do justly, To love mercy, And to walk humbly with your God?” — Micah 6:8 (NKJV)
The crowd parted in horror as a man covered in leprosy stumbled toward Jesus. His face was disfigured, his body broken, his presence unwanted. Most people shrank back. But not Jesus.
The man fell to his knees and whispered, “Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.”
And then came the moment no one expected. Jesus stretched out His hand — not recoiling, not condemning, but touching. “I am willing. Be cleansed.” Instantly, the man was healed (Matthew 8:1–3).
Jesus did the unthinkable because He saw the unseen. He welcomed tax collectors to His table when the Pharisees sneered. He called little children into His arms when His disciples tried to send them away. He brought outsiders close when everyone else pushed them away.
This is what Micah 6:8 looks like in action. To do justly means moving toward those the world discards. To love mercy means showing compassion when culture demands distance. To walk humbly with God means living like Jesus, who gave Himself for the broken and the poor.
As Christian Women for Israel, we are called to follow His steps. The world is full of voices shouting against God’s people — the Jewish people — just as it shouts down the poor, the sick, the forgotten. But Modern-Day Esthers do not shrink back. We step forward with courage and compassion, even when it costs us. Like Esther in the king’s court, like Jesus with the leper, we speak life into places of death and hope into places of despair.
You may not heal with a touch, but you can visit the lonely, sit with the hurting, defend Israel when she is slandered, and pray faithfully for Jerusalem. Every time you choose compassion over comfort and courage over silence, you are being the hands and feet of Jesus — for such a time as this.
Lord, make me a Modern-Day Esther who does not shrink back when others turn away. Give me the courage to do justice, the heart to love mercy, and the humility to walk closely with You. As part of Christian Women for Israel, let my life be a witness of Your compassion and truth. Use me today to be Your hands and feet. Amen.
