Yet, outlets like the Associated Press and Sky News have misrepresented the facts, referring to Hamas-held hostages and convicted Palestinian terrorists as if they are morally and legally equivalent.
Sky News went as far as claiming the exchange involved “the release of a number of hostages in exchange for [the] release of Palestinian prisoners as well, including women, children, sick, and elderly on both sides.” This grotesque framing equates Israeli civilians abducted from their homes with individuals convicted of violent crimes, including the assassination of Israeli Tourism Minister Rehavam Ze’evi.

The Associated Press claimed the exchange involved “hundreds of Palestinian women and children imprisoned by Israel”—a gross misrepresentation of reality. These “detainees” are not political prisoners but individuals convicted of terrorism and other violent acts.
