As we celebrate the birth of Jesus, our Savior who brought light into the darkness and hope to the world, this special day offers us an opportunity to reflect on the profound gifts God has given us—gifts that shape our faith, strengthen our relationships, and call us to action.
In the skies over Israel, a ribbon-shaped cloud recently appeared, sparking conversations among believers about the prophetic signs that surround us. Could this cloud, so strikingly resembling the yellow ribbons symbolizing hope for hostages and prisoners, be a divine reminder? For many praying for the return of the hostages still held in Gaza, this image serves as an encouragement to persevere in faith. The psalmist reminds us: “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands” (Psalm 19:1). Signs in the heavens, like this ribbon, are a call to stand firm in prayer and trust that God is working even in the most challenging circumstances.
Prophecy is a gift—one that offers insight, hope, and direction. It reminds us that God’s plans are always unfolding, often in ways we cannot fully see. Just as John the Baptist prepared the way for Jesus, we are called to be modern-day forerunners, preparing hearts for His return and reminding the world of God’s promises.
But gifts are not limited to prophecy. They also manifest in the form of friendship and solidarity, as beautifully illustrated by a story shared by a synagogue in Texas. Each year, a local church leaves a piece of glassware as a symbol of hope and healing, commemorating the tragedy of Kristallnacht and reminding the congregation of the enduring light that follows darkness. This simple yet powerful gesture demonstrates the profound impact of standing together—Jews and Christians united by shared values of love and support.
Today, as Christian Women For Israel, we see firsthand how our advocacy and prayers resonate with the Jewish community. Through letters, posts, and heartfelt messages, our Jewish friends express their gratitude. They see us standing in the gap, raising our voices against antisemitism, and holding fast to the promises of God for Israel. They recognize that our faith compels us to act—to be bearers of light in a world often clouded by darkness.
And at the center of this season is the ultimate gift: Jesus, the Light of the World. His birth brought salvation to humanity, offering us the hope of eternal life. As Isaiah prophesied: “The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness, a light has dawned” (Isaiah 9:2). This is the gift that transforms hearts, mends relationships, and inspires us to be vessels of His love.
As we celebrate His birth, let us remember that we are part of a larger story—a story of redemption, restoration, and unwavering hope. Whether through prophetic signs, the gift of friendship, or the powerful call to support Israel, God reminds us of His presence and His promises.
As we head into 2025, let us reflect on the gifts we’ve been given: the gift of salvation through Jesus, the gift of community that sustains us, and the gift of purpose that calls us to action. May we embrace our role as modern-day Esthers, standing boldly in faith, lifting our prayers, and shining His light for all to see.
“For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord” (Luke 2:11). Let this truth guide our hearts and our actions as we celebrate the greatest gift of all.
