Hamas Using Hostages as "Live Hunger Experiments"

Modern-Day Esthers, we are called to shine a light on injustice and suffering, particularly when it targets our brothers and sisters in Israel. A recent heart-wrenching account seen around the world, notably reported by the Times of Israel, reveals the horrific reality faced by hostages held captive by Hamas, through the powerful testimony of families desperately pleading for their loved ones. Yet, despite the global visibility of this tragedy, many remain silent.

Ilay David, the brother of hostage Evyatar David, spoke out powerfully against Hamas, accusing the terrorist group of using captives as “live hunger experiments.” In a recent propaganda video released by Hamas, Evyatar is shown digging what he fears could become his own grave:

“My brother is being used in an experiment, a live hunger experiment," Ilay David emphasized.

Ofer Braslavski, father of another hostage, Rom Braslavski, shared his painful experience, stating that he didn’t even recognize his own son in a recent video from Islamic Jihad:

“I saw my son and didn’t recognize him. My Rom is hungry for bread, thirsty for water, physically broken and mentally shattered. My child is dying."

These heartbreaking realities are more than personal tragedies—they reflect the true, brutal nature of Hamas. As women called by God to courageously advocate for justice, it is our duty to remain informed, speak truth boldly, and pray relentlessly.

5 Ways Modern-Day Esthers Can Take Action:

  1. Write a letter to President Trump reminding him of his campaign promise to bring hostages home.

  2. Call your Senator and Congressman to demand immediate action to end this crisis.

  3. Pray without ceasing, asking God for protection, strength, and the swift return of all hostages.

  4. Fast, dedicating a time of spiritual discipline and solidarity with those suffering.

  5. Send a letter to your local synagogue, expressing your solidarity as a Christian Woman for Israel, and wear the yellow ribbon lapel pin as a visible reminder of those still held hostage.
