“We will not allow the promotion of boycotts under the disguise of ‘human rights activists’ as Shakir did,” said Israeli Strategic Affairs Minister Gilad Erdan.
“Some people think that by forcing neighboring countries to normalize their ties [with Israel] the problem will be solved. They are wrong,” said the Iranian leader.

The directive by Mahmoud Abbas is partly designed to deflect criticism from his Islamist rivals, said a Mideast expert, adding that within days, security coordination could return to normal levels.
