As we welcome 2025, let us reflect on the significance of this year as a time of extraordinary grace. The number "5" in biblical numerology represents grace—God’s unmerited favor and divine empowerment. And when multiplied, 5 x 5, it signifies an overflow of grace. As we step into 2025, a year marked by five times the measure of grace, we are reminded of God’s abundant provision for His people.
In Ephesians 4:11-12, the Apostle Paul highlights the fivefold ministry gifts as a demonstration of God's grace:
"So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up."
These gifts are not just roles or titles—they are expressions of God's multifaceted grace, equipping the church to grow in unity, maturity, and love. Together, they reflect the fullness of Christ's care and purpose for His people.
Apostles are sent by God to establish His work, build His church, and expand His kingdom. They carry the grace to see what is not yet visible and to act boldly on God's vision. Just as apostles laid the foundation of the early church, God is raising up modern-day apostles to build on His unshakable truth.
In 2025, let us pray for an apostolic grace that boldly moves us to advance God’s kingdom, whether in our communities or to the ends of the earth.
"By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as a wise builder..." (1 Corinthians 3:10)
Prophets carry the grace to hear and proclaim God's voice. They remind us that God's plans are good and call us to walk in alignment with His will. The prophetic gift keeps the church centered on truth, offering encouragement and warning in love.
"Surely the Sovereign Lord does nothing without revealing his plan to his servants the prophets." (Amos 3:7)
As we move through 2025, may prophetic grace awaken our hearts to God's promises, reminding us that He is faithful to complete what He has begun.
Evangelists carry the grace to spread the gospel with passion and urgency. They remind us of the simplicity and power of the good news of Jesus Christ and inspire us to share it boldly. In this year of grace, let us embrace our calling to be ambassadors of Christ, sharing His love and salvation with a world in need.
"How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!" (Romans 10:15)
Pastors carry the grace of compassion, shepherding God's people with love and care. They walk alongside us through life’s valleys and celebrations, reminding us of God's faithfulness. Pastors reflect the heart of the Good Shepherd, guiding us into deeper relationship with Him.
"I will give you shepherds after my own heart, who will lead you with knowledge and understanding." (Jeremiah 3:15)
In 2025, may we experience the grace of spiritual shepherds who nurture our faith and help us grow in Christ.
Teachers carry the grace to unpack the deep mysteries of God’s Word, helping us grow in wisdom and understanding. They reveal the beauty of Scripture, teaching us how to apply God’s truth to our lives.
"The unfolding of your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple." (Psalm 119:130)
As we step into this year of grace, may we receive the gift of sound teaching that strengthens our foundation in God’s Word and equips us for every good work.
The fivefold ministry is God’s gift of grace to His church, equipping us to live out His mission with power and purpose. As we step into 2025, let us celebrate the grace that flows through these gifts, uniting us as the body of Christ and enabling us to shine His light in the darkness.
This year, let us also reflect on the greatest gift of all—the gift of Jesus. Born in a humble manger, Jesus brought light into the darkness and hope to a weary world. His life is the ultimate expression of grace, calling us to walk in faith and share His love with others.
"For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people." (Titus 2:11)
As we embrace the opportunities of 2025, may we remember that God’s grace is sufficient for every challenge and every calling. Let us move forward boldly, empowered by the gifts He has given and confident in the truth that His grace will lead us home.
Prayer for 2025: The Year of Grace
Lord, thank You for the gift of Your grace and the fivefold ministry that equips us to grow in faith and fulfill Your purposes. In this year of multiplied grace, help us to walk in boldness, unity, and love, shining Your light in a world that so desperately needs You.
Strengthen the apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers in our midst, and use them to build Your kingdom. May we carry the message of Your grace into every corner of the world, empowered by the greatest gift of all—Your Son, Jesus Christ. In His name, amen.
And as you join us in praising the Living God for the miracle of the modern-day state of Israel, we pray youā€™ll renew your own resolve to bless Israel and the Jewish people by giving a generous gift of support.
May God bless you for being a blessing to Israel and the Jewish people
