As we look back across recent events—a hard-fought election season stirring emotions nationwide, violent antisemitic attacks shocking the Jewish community, and ever-evolving global tensions—one thing becomes abundantly clear: life can shift in a heartbeat. From one headline to the next, we are reminded of the instability in the world and the ever-pressing need for courage, faith, and unwavering prayer.
At Christian Women For Israel, we stand firm in the knowledge that God is sovereign over every circumstance, every fear, and every hope. Yet, it’s not always easy to rest in that truth. When news reports seem only to highlight tragedy or division, it can be tempting to turn to our own resources for control and understanding. But we, as modern-day Esthers, are called to take a different approach.
Reflecting on the turmoil of Kristallnacht 86 years ago, the violent "Night of Broken Glass" that foreshadowed unimaginable suffering, we remember the courageous few who, despite overwhelming fear, chose to act with faith. Their legacy inspires us to look upward in faith, not outward in fear. When hatred rises, our response is not one of anxiety but of trust in God’s enduring power to protect and guide. Psalm 46:1 assures us, "God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble."
This week, violence struck Israeli soccer fans in Amsterdam, evoking painful memories of past persecution and sparking fears of rising antisemitism. Similarly, rising attacks in cities like New York have left many in the Jewish community wondering how much longer they can walk in safety. These stories are heartbreaking reminders of the brokenness in our world. Yet in every news story, every painful account, we find an opportunity to turn our hearts and minds to prayer, to seek the Holy Spirit’s guidance, and to remember the authority of our Almighty God.
In times of upheaval, we must embrace the call of Philippians 4:6, which tells us, "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God." When violence erupts, when chaos swirls, our first response must be to go to the Holy Spirit for wisdom. As modern-day Esthers, we must train ourselves to turn not toward the fear of the unknown but toward the certainty of God’s promises. He is sovereign over history and the future alike.
This approach was exemplified by courageous Christians like Corrie ten Boom, who, when faced with the rising tide of hatred, sought God’s strength and wisdom. Despite the dangers, she leaned into prayer and acted with unwavering faith, saving countless lives. Her story, like so many others, teaches us that true courage is found not in the absence of fear but in the presence of God.
In today’s ever-changing landscape, let’s remember that prayer is not a passive response; it’s our greatest weapon against the darkness. We’re reminded in Romans 8:28 that "in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." Whether we face political uncertainty, threats of violence, or the instability of our personal lives, God is sovereign and works all things together for good.
At Christian Women For Israel, we believe that God has placed us in this moment, in this time, for a reason. Just as Esther was called "for such a time as this," we are called to stand firmly in prayer, trusting in His power and seeking His guidance. No matter the trials we encounter, let us not waver in our commitment to turn to Him first, anchoring our hearts in the certainty that our sovereign God holds us—and all of history—in His hands.
When we feel the weight of the world pressing upon us, may we rise to the challenge in faith, becoming steadfast women of prayer and unshakable faith. This is how we stand with Israel, with each other, and with God’s enduring plan.
No matter how turbulent the world may appear, God’s sovereignty assures us that we are never alone in our trials. As Christian Women For Israel, let us not only pray but also act as lights in the darkness, supporting Israel and one another. When we anchor ourselves in faith, our actions—no matter how small—can carry the transformative power of God’s love and purpose. In the words of Esther 4:14, 'And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?' Together, let us step forward in faith, trusting that God will guide and strengthen us through every challenge we face.
And as you join us in praising the Living God for the miracle of the modern-day state of Israel, we pray you’ll renew your own resolve to bless Israel and the Jewish people by giving a generous gift of support.
May God bless you for being a blessing to Israel and the Jewish people
