The idea of shalom—God’s perfect peace—feels both elusive and deeply desired. The Bible often associates shalom with times of divine intervention, restoration, and justice. Could we be witnessing the beginning of a supernatural season of shalom? Recent events invite us to pause and consider how God’s hand might be moving among us.
Cyrus: A Biblical Instrument of Restoration
The Bible highlights Cyrus, king of Persia, as a figure uniquely chosen by God to fulfill His purposes. In Isaiah 45:1-3, God declares:
"This is what the Lord says to his anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I take hold of to subdue nations before him... I will go before you and will level the mountains; I will break down gates of bronze and cut through bars of iron. I will give you hidden treasures, riches stored in secret places, so that you may know that I am the Lord, the God of Israel, who summons you by name."
Cyrus was a pagan king, yet God used him to deliver the Jewish people from Babylonian captivity and restore them to their homeland. What made Cyrus extraordinary was not his faith, but his obedience to God’s purpose. He became a vessel for divine restoration, paving the way for the rebuilding of the Temple in Jerusalem (Ezra 1:1-3).
Modern Parallels: Leadership That Builds
As we reflect on today’s world, it’s natural to wonder if modern leaders like President Trump serve as instruments of God’s will, even unknowingly. Just as Cyrus acted decisively to free the captives and restore Jerusalem, we’ve recently seen immediate bold actions from the Trump administration bringing feelings of liberation, restoration, and peace.
President Donald Trump’s recent actions, including negotiating the release of hostages and efforts to broker peace in the Middle East and in Ukraine, have once again drawn comparisons to Cyrus. His approach to leadership—marked by bold declarations, decisive action, and an unapologetic commitment to America and Israel’s security—reminds us that God can use leaders in unexpected ways.
Shalom Through Divine Purpose
In Hebrew, shalom signifies more than the absence of conflict. It encompasses wholeness, harmony, and the fulfillment of God’s promises. Biblical peace is tied to God’s covenant with His people, a peace that surpasses human understanding (Philippians 4:7).
Today, as nations grapple with division and uncertainty, we are reminded of Jesus’ words:
"Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God." (Matthew 5:9)
Whether through political agreements, humanitarian aid, or supernatural intervention, the pursuit of shalom requires action and faith. As Modern-Day Esthers, we are called to pray, advocate, and stand for truth, just as Esther did for her people in a time of crisis.
Are We Entering a Season of Supernatural Shalom?
The unfolding events invite reflection on whether we are entering a time of divine alignment. Much like the reign of Cyrus, there is an urgency to recognize God’s hand at work. As it says in Ecclesiastes 3:11, “He has made everything beautiful in its time.” This could be a season where God uses leaders and circumstances to bring about His purposes in unexpected ways.
How We Can Respond as Modern-Day Esthers
- Pray with Expectation: Pray for peace in Israel, for the protection of its leaders, and for the fulfillment of God’s promises to His people (Psalm 122:6).
- Stand in Truth: Counter misinformation and advocate for Israel by sharing the truth about its role in history and prophecy.
- Act with Faith: Support CW4I's initiatives that build shalom.
As we await the unfolding of God’s plans, let us remember the words of Isaiah 26:3:
"You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you."
May we, like Esther and Cyrus, rise to the occasion, trusting that God is working through every moment to bring about His divine shalom.
