Outwardly, the nation seemed strong, but beneath the surface, corruption, idolatry, and injustice festered. Amos’s warnings resonate deeply with us today as modern-day Esthers, standing in the gap for our nations and seeking to restore godly values.
Amos challenges us to consider: What are the values of a nation, and how does a nation reflect its relationship with God?
1. The Authority of God’s Word
"This is what the Lord says..." — Amos 1:3
Amos’s ministry began with this declaration: God’s Word is the ultimate authority. A nation that honors God must submit to His Word as its moral compass. When leaders or individuals stray from Scripture, chaos and moral decay follow.
