Key Scripture: “Moses built an altar and called it The Lord is my Banner.” Exodus 17:15, NIV
A banner is lifted high. It marks identity, allegiance, and victory. When Moses called the Lord Jehovah Nissi, Israel had just come through battle. Their strength alone was not enough. Their success did not come from human confidence. It came from the Lord who stood over them, fought for them, and gave them victory. This name reminds us that God does not ask His people to stand under the banners of fear, culture, opinion, or intimidation. We belong under His covering.
Jesus fulfills this beautifully. He is the One lifted up for our salvation, the One through whom the victory of God is made known. At the cross, what looked like defeat became triumph. Sin was broken. Death was overcome. The enemy was not given the final word. In Christ, we do not fight for victory as though it were uncertain. We stand in the victory He has already won.
For women who pray for Israel, this name is full of strength. There are battles that are physical and battles that are spiritual. There are enemies that are visible and enemies that speak lies into weary hearts. Yet above it all, the Lord remains the banner over His people.
Today’s Prayer:
Lord, You are Jehovah Nissi. Lift Your banner over Israel and over every place where fear has tried to take ground. Help me stand under Your truth, Your protection, and Your victory today. In Jesus’ name, amen.
